Hemi-Sync: Gateway Experience — Wave 1: Discovery - Orientation

So last night I decided to begin my personal experimentations into Hemi-Sync, as I once planned long ago. I was going to bed a little early last night, so I figured there would be no better time to start the Hemi-Sync Gateway Experience from the very beginning, and really focus on making it work, as well as documenting my progress (or lack thereof).

Hemi-Sync Gateway Experience. Wave 1: Discovery - Orientation. Tuesday, May 22nd, 2007: 10:50pm to 11:20pm.

Although I had attempted this previous and made it through Orientation, and had done listened to the Intro Focus 10 track once or twice, I was never really satisfied. So here I begin fresh.

I was moderately tired by this time, 10:50pm, so I decided to go to bed early and start here. I began the CD as it always begins, relaxing and listening to the introductory speech. Having listened to this at least a half dozen times in the past, I’m getting pretty tired of this.

I followed the instructions as they were spoken. I was finding it hard to really focus on the instructions and complete them properly. I was very comfortable, almost in a hypnic state, but I snapped out of it and did the breathing exercises and instructed. By this time I was starting to feel more relaxed, but not quite tired. Soon after came the count-down for Focus 3, but by that time I found myself too distracted by ambient noise. I got frustrated, gave up, and went to the bathroom. When I got back to my bed to fall asleep, I found myself too wide awake, and didn’t fall asleep until several minutes later.

I think my frustrations mostly lay in the fact that I had listened to this Orientation track too many times previously, and further hampered by the fact that I was distracted by outside noises. I think my next attempt (possibly tonight) I will skip to ‘Intro Focus 10′ where it feel slightly newer and fresher.

Needless to say, I’m still very skeptical of the whole thing. The verbal count-up for achieving “Focus 3″ didn’t feel any different than my normal conscious state, but this may have been caused by the distraction as previously mentioned. If nothing else, so far, the binaural rhythms on the CD seem to make me relaxed and put me in a near-sleep (hypnogogic) state.
