Hemi-Sync (OOBE, LD) Follow-Up
I thought I’d do a quick follow-up on a previous post (On Hemi-Sync Lucid Dreaming, OOBEs) because I did get a couple of responses and was receiving quite a few hits coming from related Google searches.
In response to a few remarks that “John Q”. had made:
….which set of cds did you get? There are 3 sets floating around…
I seem to have misplaced the set I originally discovered. From the original MP3 CD that I burned I only had the first 3 “Discoveries” of the first “Wave” and that’s as far as I got. At the time I couldn’t get into it much or just got frustrated with it. I assume they are probably the lesser quality. I did come across the FLAC set which he mentioned, so I’ll have to give that a try.
I’ll also try the alternate focus technique that he suggested. I definitely do recall reading about it, but never really tried. Maybe it will also work for the same lucid dreaming Hemi-Sync set should I decide that give that a go again. Also:
you might try the brainwave generator… a small program that allows you to create your own beats … You can… customize the time it runs.
The aforementioned software can be downloaded from the BrainWave Generator website. I have tried it before, but didn’t think much of it. I spent some time fooling around with it a long time ago, just to see how it worked, but never really gave it a serious shot. It certainly might be worth looking into again just for fun.
As much of a positive attitude I have for this stuff (especially OOBE’s, after reading one particular Robert A. Monroe book), I still sometimes doubt the scientific credibility of the Hemi-Sync/binaural beats idea. Maybe I’ll try to dig up a few science articles about it to summarize for other people doing their own, understandably leery research on the subject.
If there are any other comments or follow-ups that you think I or anyone else might be interested in, do post them (the commenting system here is monitored, so it might take a day to be viewable once you comment) or e-mail me. There clearly aren’t enough resources on the Internet about this topic if my (extremely young) website is a frequent stop for people’s searches.
[Update: Feb 16, 2007:] I’ll probably start experimenting with the higher quality copies of this once I have a bit less going on. I might wait until sometime in April when I’m done school, at which point I’ll hopefully have a bit more free time to both do this and think about doing it. Once I do start maybe I’ll log my attempts a bit and describe how well (or not so well) it’s been working for me.
I also found some interesting presets on the BrainWave Generator website that I might have to try as well. I definitely appreciate all the comments and suggestions, John Q.
I don’t know why it didn’t occur to me a long time ago, but I checked Wikipedia for a page on out-of-body experiences and it has a pretty good summary of necessary information. None of it was really new to me, but it’s still interesting to read, and probably worth for other people to check out if they’re interested in this stuff.

The FLAC set are formed from the CDs — if memory serves correctly — but the type of format reduces the probability of loss in quality. I use the the CDS. I have had success, but not at first. My first problem was that I was impatient — wanted it to happen “now” and then the second was that I kept “expecting it” which caused me to focus more on what was happening rather than letting it happen.
In truth, OBEs are not very easy. I do believe that occur naturally, but our left brain wants to analyze the experience from ever vantage point. In dream states, this is not so much a problem, which is why lucid dreaming is often a launch point. One of the keys to the CDs is that you let yourself fall into the sound. I have learned that I can listen to a meditative (hemi sync will do) CD and then do the Gateway CDs, then the I had more success — why? Because I entered the Gateway Experience relaxed.
Another point, I found that I do better in a seated position rather than a sleeping position. We associate sleep with beds, which, for me, hindered the process. Frame of mind is always important. I don’t promote the idea of leaving your critical thinking skills behind, but finding a balance.
I have been having these OBEs since childhood. They were uncontrolled and sporadic and I hated them. I only came to the CDs as an adult because they gave me confidence that I could gain some type of control or perspective.
When you first attempt to go OUT (and make it), everything will look like bluish white — like pale moonlight. Second — do not look at your body initially, because in the beginning the sight will suck you back in. Third, flying is not easy. No offense to those who say “float” and they do, but sometimes you have to figure it out on your own terms.
Sorry for the long comment. I do not usually leave such long replies, because I think people should learn on their own terms — that’s from the clinical psychology part of my life — which goes to demonstrate that you can find OBEs in all professions if you look hard enough.
Good Luck.

[…] Just last night I tried, for the first time, to use an export from the wonderful BrainWave Generator, which I had recommended to me by a reader and posted about previously. […]

Brainwave frequencies can be customized for anybody according to their situations and can be presented in CD form
